Jewlz was hit by a car, picked up by animal control and taken to the East Valley Shelter on June 9th, 2011. She was there for 5 days without any medication to keep her comfortable on the hard cement floors.
The JDHF rescued Jewlz and took her to the Animal Surgical and Emergency Center (ASEC), where she was diagnosed with a fractured pelvis and severe trauma to her left eye. The last vertebrae in her spine had also been displaced. ASEC performed two operations on Jewlz. A pin was inserted to realign her spine and the break to her pelvis was addressed. The injury to Jewlz's eye was treated with medication and although it was initially feared that it may have to be removed, the eye has healed well and will not require surgery.
This 10 month old Chihuahua Mix has shown so much spirit, courage and drive to live after everything she's been through. Her injuries were attended to by the best doctors but unfortunately the best have also cost over $7,000. If you able to donate any amount to help cover her veterinary bills it would be greatly appreciated.
Jewlz has now completely recovered for her injuries and is looking for a forever home. Check out our video that shows her back to full health, playing with a four-legged friend.
